Early withdrawal - Definition

It refers to withdrawal of a term deposit before its fixed Maturity date. Early withdrawal also applies to removal of funds from a tax-deferred Investment account or retirement savings account, such as an IRA or 401(k), closed investment and mutual funds before the predefined time period. An early withdrawal typically has a penalty or withdrawal fee that is used to discourage investors from taking such an Action.
