An individual who funds small start-ups. This individual is usually a family member or friend, as opposed to an employee or member of a bank, venture Capital firm, or other financial institution. Also directed toward entrepreneurs, this financial Support is usually in the form of venture capital funds. It is typically the potential for a large return on the venture that motivates this contribution, offsetting the characteristically high Risk levels.
