Abeyances - Definition

A situation where in a property ownership is not determined. Ownership of property, estate, office or title has not been positioned after a death, loss or dispute. When a property has no legal Owner it is set in abeyance till the ownership is determined. It can remain in abeyance for decades. Abeyance occurs when the present owner does not declare a beneficiary, then the new ownership is determined through the outcome of some happenings at some time in the future.
