Capital account - Definition

The capital account reflects net change in national ownership of assets. It tracks the movement of funds for investments and Loans into and out of a country and capital account makes up part of the Balance of payments. The formula for capital account of a country is as follows:

capital account = foreign direct investments + portfolio investments + other investments + reserve account.
