Daily trading limit - Definition

The highest and lowest prices that a commodity or Option is permitted to reach in a given trading session. When daily trading limits have been reached, it is said to be a "locked market", and trading will halt for any trades that break the threshold or trading will close for that particular security. Trading limits are much key for derivatives compared to other securities due to the high leverage used in commodity trading, forex trading and futures contracts.
