C shares - Definition

The class of shares in a Mutual Fund that has a constant load structure throughout the life of the fund. C-shares are mutual fund shares that are charged a back-end load if they are sold within one year. Compared to other class of shares it has higher annual fees for the life of the investment. this is usually the result of marketing and distribution expenses that are transferred to the customer in the form of fees.
