Alimony - Definition

It is a financial Support for divorcing couples. The low-income spouse is provided money for living expenses by the former spouse. The alimony payments are taxable income for the receiver and deductable expense for the payer. It is different from child support, which is based on some calculation using some guidelines, where as alimony is strictly at the discretion of the Judge.
