Accredited investor - Definition

Investors who are permitted to invest in certain types of high Risk investments including seed money, limited partnerships, hedge funds. They are exempted from registration. It generally includes wealthy individuals and organizations. These investors have to meet up with certain Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requirements. Must have asset worth of at least one million US dollars excluding one's residence or should have made at least $200,000 each year for the last two years and expect to make the same during the present year. This rule in effect from 1933 by way of Securities Act 1933.
